1. Overview
K4LCN-16 is the top-tier upgraded LCN node processor card for Honeywell classic TDC3000 DCS, replacing older K2LCN / K4LCN-4 / K4LCN-8 low-memory versions. It adopts Motorola 68040 32-bit industrial processor with fixed 16MB onboard memory (non-expandable), fully compatible with all LCN bus equipment including Network Interface Modules (NIM), Global Operator Stations, History Collectors, and Application Processors.
The card integrates a dedicated LCN bus transceiver, supporting standard 5Mbps LCN synchronous communication, provides millisecond-level clock synchronization for all LCN nodes, and undertakes heavy-duty tasks such as real-time process data caching, control logic storage, trend history calculation, and operator graphic rendering.
Compared with small-memory K4LCN variants, K4LCN-16 supports large-scale plant-wide DCS nodes with heavy load, especially systems with large process graphics, massive historical data storage, and multiple UCN controller connections. It is a VME rack plug-in board, supports hot-swap maintenance, widely used in petrochemical, power, oil & gas old TDC3000 system renovation and stable operation.
